Replace or Renew your Carpets

At Renew, we really do believe that honesty is the best policy, and we will always be direct about the results you can expect from our services. Therefore, if your carpet is beyond cleaning we’ll tell you so as not to waste your time or your money.

Sometimes it can be hard to know if your carpet needs a professional cleaning, or a skip… Below is our quick guide to help you know the difference.

Grimy carpets

Carpet, especially on stairs can carry a lot of heavy traffic and become dirty quick. Like most things in your home with dirt and grime comes the perception of age. Many of our customers are surprised at how carpets that they had considered throwing out, came up like new after our cleaning.

Worn or worn out?

Small rips and tears in a carpet can be repaired quite easily. However, if the tear is large or there are significant gaps where the carpet fibres are missing with the underlay exposed, it’s best to consider buying a new carpet. Also, if the padding underneath the carpet begins to wrinkle or gets damaged, professional carpet cleaning won’t help this and the whole carpet will need to be replaced.

The type of carpet you buy is important when it comes to longevity. Carpets made from polyester tend to wear more quickly as opposed to ones made from nylon. That said, it’s all about the individual quality of the carpet, so make sure to do your homework before buying.

The ten-year itch

Carpets usually start to look worn between 8-10 years. If after ten years your carpet is not looking it’s best, even after being professional cleaned and well cared for, then it’s time to go shopping for a new one.

Renew Carpet Cleaning

Stain central

Renew have an excellent reputation at removing even the most stubborn stains such as ink and red wine. Our advanced technology and highly skilled technicians have successfully removed even old, worn-in stains.

It’s always best to have a protective treatment applied after any professional carpet cleaning. This will help to build a barrier to prevent future staining and make it easier for you to maintain.

Biological stains such as pet urine, vomit and faeces are not as straight forward. If these occur regularly or have built up over time they can cause mould and mildew. Although these stains can be successfully removed professionally, if they are left they can become a health hazard and the whole carpet really should go. Better safe than sorry!

When DIY goes bad

Some people try to take on stains themselves by concocting potions and scrubbing at their carpets. These experiments can permanently damage carpet fibres, and will in turn mean the carpets need replacing.

Back to School – Its time!

It’s that time of year again, when school bags are being packed and kids are counting sleeps – well maybe that’s just the parents. However, back to school can unfortunately mean back to the doctor for many parents. Although you can’t control what allergens and germs your children are exposed to in the classroom, you can try and limit them in your home.

Regular deep cleaning is key to maintaining a hygienic home for you and your family, and carpet cleaning is one of the most beneficial. Having your carpets professionally cleaned has many benefits, but for most of our customers it’s the health benefits that has them calling us again and again.

Even the cleanest looking carpets can be a playground for dust mites, pet dander and bacteria. As children love playing on the carpet or sprawling out to watch TV, they are the ones who are mostly subjected to these hazards. Having your carpet professionally cleaned will not only leave them looking and smelling fresh, but more importantly, it will leave them safer for you and your little ones.

Back to school is also peak time for asthma flare-ups among children. Along with controlled medicine, limiting exposure to asthma triggers is important to try and keep these flare-ups at bay. At Renew we pride ourselves on removing 99.5% of all of bacteria, allergens, pet dander and dust mites, all of which can trigger illnesses such as asthma.

Routine is a huge priority this time of year, and after late nights and long days, parents are eager to get their kids back on schedule, especially when it comes to bedtime. As most of us know, a good night’s sleep is important for a child’s development, and teachers have reported that children who sleep well at night are more likely to be alert in the classroom, and have a higher concentration level. Sleep deprivation can cause children to be irritable throughout the day, affecting not only their school work, but their behaviour. As parents take care to provide a safe haven for their children, customising bedrooms to suit their tastes and ensuring they have soft, comfortable bedclothes. However, no amount of snugly bedclothes will help a child sleep, if they are being kept awake by allergens.

Parents of children with asthma often purchase anti-allergy bedclothes and pillows, these extra precautions could too just be masking the real problems that lurk underneath. Dust mites, bacteria, fungal spores and viruses, can cause sleep disruption, such as coughing, sneezing fits and skin irritation. At Renew we provide mattress cleaning that will not only remove stains such as potty accidents, but also the culprits that can cause your child to wake during the night.

There is often the misconception that this type of professional cleaning, means the use of harsh chemicals, and of course parents don’t want their children exposed to these. Our customers’ well-being is always at the forefront of our minds, and we use only the safest cleaning solutions, which are considered safe for your family by the F.D.A

As we all know parenting can be a mine field and like the children heading back to school, we adults are never done learning either. To find out more about our cleaning services or to book with us today, please click here

Pets and Allergies

Pets and Allergies

How to create a healthy living environment for you and your pets.

Many of us buy pets with the best of intentions, and a head full of rules. We start of determined that they’ll never venture upstairs, or onto furniture, and will most definitely always sleep in their own bed, but as pets win over our hearts, they also win over our homes.

Our favourite spot on the couch soon becomes theirs too, so it’s not surprising to see your home gradually covered in a blanket of pet hair. This hair can not only be unsightly, but can carry with it, urine, saliva and pet dander. Pet dander is tiny flecks of dead skin, shed by cats, dogs and other animals with fur or feathers. It’s this dander which causes people to have allergic reactions to certain types of animals.

Unfortunately, many of us don’t know we have an allergy to pet dander, until we get a pet of our own and by then, it’s too late. Pet allergies can vary in reactions, from skin irritation, coughing and sneezing, to wheezing and even asthma attacks. As soon as an allergy becomes apparent, it can be hard to get a handle on, without having to rehome the pet – which no owner wants to do. Therefore, most people try to control the problem as best they can.

There are lots of ways to try and ease pet allergies, such as keeping your home clutter free, not allowing pets in the bedroom, and using air purifiers. However, having your upholstery, carpets, rugs and curtains professionally cleaned is vital when trying to control pet allergens.

At Renew, we specialise in removing up to 95.5% of pet dander along with dust mites, bacteria and other allergens. Whether it’s your carpets, curtains, upholstery or that rug your pet loves to snooze on, each piece is cleaned and treated with the upmost care and attention. After we have removed all harmful pollutants, your home is left with better indoor air quality, which is beneficial for both you and your pets.

For those lucky enough not to suffer with allergies, having your carpets and upholstery professionally cleaned is still extremely important. Pet allergens are unique, in that they don’t lose their power with the length of time they’re hanging around. Even months after being deposited, they can still cause severe allergies, which may not affect you, but could affect any new arrivals, or visitors to your home.

As cute as pets are, they don’t tend to smell as good as they look. You may not notice, but guests to your home can most likely smell your pet, before even seeing them. Pet odours become trapped in fabrics, emitting their smell like a bad air freshener. After a professional cleaning these odours are removed, leaving your carpets and upholsteries not only looking fresh, but smelling fresh too. We are proud that we don’t need to use harsh chemicals to achieve this. All our cleaning products are safe for your beloved pets and are F.D.A approved, giving you complete peace of mind.
